Hey! contributor

This summer the Laurelhurst neighborhood (home to Brigit Communications Collective) launched its plan to complete historic district designation. We couldn't help ourselves -- we had to create a rally cry logo!

We used the neighborhood's iconic Coe Circle statue of Joan of Arc, and played off her flag to shape our slogan (and of course we had to incorporate that great 1970's lettering used in the Laurelhurst logo. Big shout out to designer Rene Choy for helping to shape this vision, and to StevensIS printing for creating some beautiful decals and posters. (T-shirts coming soon).

Hey! contributor

We've been so busy our blog posts and emails have gotten a little behind (know any good communicators?), and now it is the final weekend of Third Rail Repertory Theatre's production of The Events, written by David Greig with music composed by John Browne.

BUT even with just a few shows left we encourage you to check out this production, directed by Scott Yarbrough and featuring two of Portland's finest actors Maureen Porter and Joe Gibson. We're sure you will find it intense, cathartic and timely. A beautiful element to this show is incorporation of local choirs (taking the role of a Greek chorus) who change every perform...

Hey! contributor

What are you doing Monday night?

We've been working on Outside the Frame's Annual Gala screening of their new documentary Leaving Home, and new films by and with youth experiencing homelessness in Portland. And, it's this Monday, November 13! The event will also feature a Q&A with the young filmmakers and presentation of Lifetime Achievement Award to homeless activist Tia Plympton.

Film has the power to open people’s hearts. This event is a much needed way to see homeless youth as creators, producers, storytellers.

We hope you can join us! The event is FREE, at The Armory, and the doors open at 5:30 with light refre...

Hey! contributor

Yesterday I received two thank you notes. On the same day! I stopped for a moment and thought about how good those life and work connections feel, and how important it is to stop -- even in the middle of a summer heatwave -- to thank the people who have helped you along the way.

We've been going about our business at Brigit Communications Collective (a.k.a Team Brigit) for over a year now. We've dipped our toes into so many different types of projects -- a homeless youth nonprofit, a local wine shop, healthcare, professional theater, neighborhood associations, a pet sitting start-up, a logistics company, an energy...

Portland is a city of vibrant, historic and ever-changing neighborhoods. It's hard to choose a favorite -- and each have their own special coffeeshop, corner bar or brewpub, and most likely a few places to eat (with a James Beard Award-winning chef inside). Many of our neighborhoods are also challenged with issues around development, homelessness and crime – and just the general need to engage with neighbors (hence, the success of and our love/hate relationship with sites like Nextdoor).

When we got the opportunity to re-do the Laurelhurst Neighborhood Association website we jumped at it – seeing a great opportunity to cr...

We worked with designer Rene Choy to create a series of images to help set the tone for Third Rail Repertory Theatre's production (and American Premiere) of James Graham's The Angry Brigade. Based on true events and set in 1970s London, the show tells the story of both anarchists and the Establishment in a world struggling through turbulent and changing times. We wanted the artwork to show that balance and collision of tradition and new ideas, with a little bit of humor (hence, the symbolism of the teacup with the machine gun peeking out over the edge).

We have to admit, our inspiration came from attending the "first read...

When we read Cheryl Strayed's quote we knew this was just the message we wanted to send this holiday season. Once again we collaborated with Manda Borealis (who also designed our logo) to bring out the inspiration in the message. She hand lettered, painted and gave it beautiful detail.

It's been a great year for us as we started our communications consulting and creative work, and we thank you for your support -- no matter how you gave it. As we move on to 2017 it is important to us to move forward in the direction that inspires goodness and action. Much happiness and bigness to you and yours!

Hey! contributor

We started working with Third Rail Repertory Theatre just as their 2016/17 season opened. Third Rail produces a quality theater experience: thought-provoking, gritty, intimate and impactful performances. Think Steppenwolf, but right in our own backyard. It's not your Broadway musical kinda place. This is the type of theater you learn about in your first drama class in high school, but only the most gifted thespians get to be part of. The good news is we all get to experience the fruits of their labor and be entertained and challenged.

Third Rail recently opened The Nether by Jennifer Haley. And we need to t...

Hey! contributor

Ester Janne Hill has amazing taste. And we're not just saying that because Brigit Communications Collective has been helping get the word out about Orange Line Wines, Ester's new shop in Sellwood-Westmoreland. She's actually helped us choose great wines to share with our friends.

We're very excited Orange Line Wines now has their first tasting events on the calendar.
Ester has special evenings planned at the wine shop, hosting two exceptional Oregon wineries:

Eisold-Smith Winery - Thursday, August 25, 2016, 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

For its first-ever tasting event, Orange Line Wines is thrilled to welcome...

Hey! contributor

Orange Line Wines’ selection of hundreds of distinctive labels is impressive, but owner Ester Janne Hill’s intimate knowledge of each is the real service to customers. With the new wine shop now open in Sellwood-Westmoreland, Hill, an experienced sommelier and trained chef, helps guide customers in choosing great wines for themselves and their occasions.

“It’s important to me that customers feel confident that they’re buying a wine they’ll enjoy,” says Hill.

Hill is constantly searching for wines that best represent each region of the world and each grape variety, such as a 2014 Flaneur Chardonnay from Oregon’s Ribbon Ridg...
